Naised pole inimesed?

By Cushla Geary: # SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

Why are men who actively promote the idea of violence against women not regarded as terrorists, when men who actively promote the idea of violence against the community are? Is it not terrorism if it is women you are advocating against?

Last month, a man who claimed to be starting the "Incel Revolution" killed 10 people in Canada. but he is not, according to police, media, politicians - all the ones with loud voices - a terrorist.

Why not?

Euridice Dixon is the 30th Australian woman killed by a man this year. This is week 24 of the year 2018.

Between the years 1978 and 2018, 16 people have been killed by terrorist action in Australia (and that includes 5 perpetrators).

Our government has entire departments and whole divisions of the police force engaged in foiling terrorists before they carry out attacks.

Enormous sums of money are spent on publicising the risk of terrorism, explaining to people how to identify terrorists, or suspicious behaviour that might lead to a terrorist act.
The general public seldom passes a day without some publicity about terrorists, or would-be terrorists.

So far this year, no-one has been killed by terrorist action - at least, not as our government defines "terrorist acts".

Yet this week the count of women dead at the hands of men - deliberately, violently dead at the hands of a man - has reached 30. Thirty women who had families, friends, colleagues; who had lives to live and hopes and ambitions. Thirty dead at the hands of 30 violent men.

The police scold us for "taking risks". The government never, never, NEVER scolds men for seeing women as prey. As property. Nor does it ever address the reasons men do this. The reasons they rape us. Beat us. Murder us. We are told to 'keep ourselves safe".

(quote from an article):
//"Ultimately, the focus on safekeeping routines are problematic in that they shift responsibility for men’s violence back on to women, and distract us from the difficult and long-term conversations and deep-seated cultural, social, and structural changes that need to happen to truly prevent this violence from occurring in the first place.

For what it’s worth, I did walk home through the park alone in the end: a small act of feminist resistance in honour of all the women who should have made it home safely."//

Selliseid mehi on Eestis palju. Sedasorti käitumine valdavalt ei avaldu teiste meeste juuresolekul, kui on kedagi, kes on neist tugevam ja suudaks neid takistada/ hukka mõista. Naised selles arvestuses ei loe.

See on turvalisuse küsimus ühiskonnale. Miks naiste elu, tervist ja turvalisust ei väärtustata?
